Judaism †Meaning of life Essay

The importance of life is a philosophical inquiry concerning the centrality of life or presence when all is said in done. It can likewise be communicated in various structures, for example, â€Å"Why would we say we are here? â€Å", â€Å"What is life about? â€Å", and â€Å"What is the reason for presence? † It has been the subject of much philosophical, logical, and religious hypothesis since the beginning. There have been an enormous number of proposed answers to these inquiries from a wide range of social and ideological foundations. The significance of life is in the philosophical and strict originations of presence, social ties, cognizance, and joy, and fringes on numerous different issues, for example, representative importance, philosophy, esteem, reason, morals, great and malicious, unrestrained choice, the presence of one or various Gods, originations of God, the spirit, and existence in the wake of death. Logical commitments center basically around depicting related experimental realities about the universe, investigating the unique situation and parameters concerning the ‘how’ of life. Science additionally examines and can give suggestions to the quest for prosperity and a related origination of ethical quality. Another option, humanistic methodology suggests the conversation starter â€Å"What is an incredible importance? † The estimation of the inquiry relating to the reason forever may agree with the accomplishment of extreme reality, or a sentiment of unity, or even a sentiment of holiness. oversees the universe. Closeness with the God of Israel is through investigation of His Torah, and adherence to its mitzvot (divine laws). In conventional Judaism, God built up an exceptional pledge with a people, the individuals of Israel, at Mount Sinai, giving the Jewish instructions. Torah includes the composed Pentateuch and the translated oral convention, further created through the ages. The Jewish individuals are proposed as â€Å"a realm of clerics and a sacred nation†[69] and a â€Å"light to the Nations†, affecting different people groups to keep their own religio-moral Seven Laws of Noah. The messianic period is viewed as the flawlessness of this double way to God. Jewish observances include moral and custom, positive and prohibative orders. Present day Jewish categories contrast over the nature, significance and accentuations of mitzvot. Jewish way of thinking underscores that God isn't influenced or profited, yet the individual and society advantage by gravitating toward to God. The realist Maimonides sees the moral and custom perfect instructions as an important, however inadequate groundwork for philosophical comprehension of God, with its affection and stunningness. [70] Among crucial qualities in the Torah are quest for equity, sympathy, harmony, generosity, difficult work, flourishing, lowliness, and training. [71][72] The world to come,[73] arranged in the present, lifts man to an everlasting association with God. [74] Simeon the Righteous says, â€Å"the world stands on three things: on Torah, on adore, and on demonstrations of cherishing thoughtfulness. † The petition book relates, â€Å"blessed is our God who made us for his honor†¦ and planted inside us everlasting life. † Of this specific circumstance, the Talmud states, â€Å"everything that God does is for the good,† including languishing. The Jewish enchanted Kabbalah gives complimentary exclusive implications of life. Just as Judaism giving an inalienable relationship God (individual belief in a higher power), in Kabbalah the profound and physical creation is an incomprehensible appearance of the inherent parts of God’s Being (panentheism), identified with the Shekhinah (Divine female). Jewish recognition joins the sephirot (Divine characteristics) on high, reestablishing agreement to creation. In Lurianic Kabbalah, the importance of life is the messianic amendment of the broke flashes of God’s persona, banished in physical presence (the Kelipot shells), through the activities of Jewish recognition. [75] Through this, in Hasidic Judaism a definitive fundamental â€Å"desire† of God is the disclosure of the Omnipresent Divine quintessence through materiality, accomplished by man from inside his constrained physical domain, when the body will offer life to the spirit. Zoroastrianism is the religion and reasoning named after its prophet Zoroaster, which is accepted to have affected the convictions of Judaism and its relative religions. [77] Zoroastrians have confidence in a universe made by a supernatural God, Ahura Mazda, to whom all love is at last coordinated. Ahura Mazda’s creation is asha, truth and request, and it is in struggle with its absolute opposite, druj, lie and turmoil. (See likewise Zoroastrian eschatology). Since mankind has through and through freedom, individuals must be liable for their ethical decisions. By utilizing unrestrained choice, individuals must play a functioning job in the all inclusive clash, with great considerations, great words and great deeds to guarantee bliss and to keep turmoil under control.

4 Types of Interactive Content to Boost Your Content Marketing

Interactive marketing is a customer-oriented approach to marketing that engages the user and requires their participation. The most popular forms of interactive marketing content are polls, surveys, quizzes and games. This type of content can help you drive awareness, engage your audience, generate high-converting leads, convert to sales, or nurture brand loyalty. Related: Generating leads with content marketing—4 things most brands get wrong In a recent Content Marketing Institute survey, marketers compared interactive and static content. Around 80% of them agreed that interactive content was more effective at capturing attention, converting site visitors and ensuring brand message retention. In particular, let's take a look at 4 types of interactive content that are most likely to bring you results. Polls & surveys Polls and surveys are probably the simplest and oldest form of interactive marketing. They're a great way to get in touch with your audience, but despite their simplicity, you can use them in several different ways to help you build a genuine connection with your followers. The easiest and most straightforward way to use polls and surveys is to ask your audience or customers for opinions about your product, service or content. Source: Twitter For example, many content creators run regular polls to inform their content creation strategy. Source: Twitter While many marketers use polls as part of their content creation process, it doesn't have to be the only way to engage with your audience or customers. You can use polls to obtain relevant statistics from your industry and later turn them into a valuable source of unique content that will boost your authority in the business field. Source: Twitter Of course, polls don't have to be all work and no play—if your brand relies on aligning with your customer's lifestyle, values and interests, you can always use relaxing or entertaining content to nurture friendly, close relationships with them. Source: Twitter Finally, you can also use current local (or global) events & news to start a conversation with your audience in a way that feels relevant to your product or brand. Source: Twitter If you have any doubts on whether polls draw engagement, I kept the number of likes and retweets visible in the last screenshot. As you can see, despite drawing only two engagements typical for static posts (one like and one reply), the poll itself attracted 89 people to vote. Incorporating polls in your content marketing strategy is pretty much a breeze—polls are a regular feature on both Facebook and Twitter, and it only takes a few clicks to create them. Contests Another well-known marketing strategy that still delivers amazing results is the gamification of various contests and challenges. Gamification can bring an up-to-150% increase in engagement, so naturally, almost 87% of retailers plan to use it within the next five years. In terms of content marketing, challenges and photo/video contests are a great way to gather user-generated content that can later be used or repurposed for brand development. Unless you've been living under a rock, you've probably heard about the famous ALS "Ice Bucket" challenge that managed to raise awareness about a rare neuron disease, engage 17 million participants, and collect $115 million in donations that led to a breakthrough in determining the cause of ALS. Actors Henry Cavill & Amy Adams do the ALS challenge. Source: YouTube The ALS awareness campaign challenged people to dump a bucket of ice over their head (or have another person do it to them). Then, participants nominated the next participant—the only way to opt-out of getting showered with ice was to donate money to the ALS Association. Similarly, you can challenge your audience to a little photo or video contest with a unique hashtag on social media in exchange for a fitting reward. Of course, whatever the topic of the contest is, it has to align with your brand values and product. There's not much point in organizing a photo challenge depicting the wonders of nature if you're selling used car parts—but there are plenty of other challenges that would fit splendidly. Source: National Geographic In the end, your contest should neither be too easy nor too difficult. You want people to put some time into connecting with you in exchange for a prize or benefit that seems attainable and worthy of the work it requires. You don't want to frustrate people or make them feel cheated. A good challenge will bring out people's natural curiosity and competitive spirit. The better you are at that, the greater your chances of going viral. If your contest is engaging, people will be eager to share it. [Click to tweet ] Quizzes You've probably procrastinated a project by doing dozens of absurd quizzes with titles like "Tell us your favorite One Direction member and we'll tell you which garlic bread you are." Apart from being addictive and fun, quizzes can also be a great way to boost your content marketing and sell more. How? Quizzes have a 78% completion rate and an 82% click-to-conversion rate. They satisfy our need for introspection, self-confirmation, recognition and belonging—making them super clickable, convincing and shareable (qualities you definitely want in your marketing content). For example, you can capture people's attention by running a quiz on your website or social media, promising they'll discover something about themselves (ideally, something relevant to your brand). The results they get can direct them towards a landing page or collect their email address in exchange. But, don't think that quizzes are only good for retailers and entertainment websites. This type of interactive content is also a great way to reach out to business clients. By identifying the unique challenges of your B2B buyers, you can create quizzes that offer them practical, customized solutions in the form of quiz results. Interactive websites Interactive websites engage and inspire your potential customers to explore content in a way regular blog posts don't. Take, for example, this piece of sponsored content in The Washington Post. Source: The Washington Post The National Association of Realtors published an article with the goal of reaching their target market of first-time homebuyers. As the younger generation is more cautious and skeptical about purchasing real estate, realtor marketers knew they had to step up their game. Source: The Washington Post And the article itself does feel like a game, constantly requiring the reader's attention and interaction. (For example, there's an interactive infographic.) Content sections are intertwined with relevant survey questions about personal experiences, opinions and expectations. Source: The Washington Post Apart from reaching a skeptical audience with content that responds to their common complaints and questions, the survey was also a way to help realtors gather data about their ideal customer. Source: The Washington Post While interactive websites require extra work and time in development, that investment pays off. Try it on yourself—even if you're not a first-time home buyer, did you feel compelled to check out the article anyway? Exactly. A great interactive website encourages visitors to explore, click and read (!) your content. Key takeaway As the digital sphere grows more personalized, interactive content is slowly becoming the norm. Software developers are keeping up, providing marketers with tools that turn interactive content creation from a daunting task into a 10-minute routine. However, even if you decide to dedicate more time and resources to this type of content marketing, keep in mind the reward. Interactive content generates 4-5x more pageviews and 2x more conversions than static content. Why not give it a try? Women s Suffrage By Susan B. Anthony Silver Dollar

It’s sobering to realize that it’s only been 95 years since the first woman legally cast her ballot in an American presidential election. March is Women’s History Month and before it’s over for 2015, I’d like to propose that we launch an effort to memorialize the immense contributions of the American women’s suffrage leaders by adding their likeness to at least one of our pieces of currency. The Susan B. Anthony silver dollar had a short but awkward run from 1979-1981 and again in 1999 before production halted. In recent months, there have been discussions about replacing President Jackson on the $20 bill with someone else. Why not the three leading women who devoted their lives to the rights of women voters and changed the course of American history without ever casting a legal ballot of their own? In the rotunda of the U.S. Capitol stands a striking, white sculpture of three incredible women. It is the first sculpture in the Capitol sculpted by a woman (Adelaide Johnson), of women (Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott) and for women. The sculpture gives the appearance of being unfinished or incomplete as a way of illustrating that the contributions of women to American government are still taking place and will never be finished. Today, women have a voice in our government because of the sacrifices and courageous efforts of those first â€Å"Women’s Suffrage† crusaders. Globalisation to Big MNC-Free-Samples for Students-Myassignment

Question: Using an example of an MNC from an emerging Market, present an analysis of the Opportunities and threats that Globalisation creates for Decision-Makers. What are the main lessons International Business Managers can learn about the interplay between home and host Country differences in achieving success? Answer: Introduction In earlier time, when there were no industrialization and no globalization, each and every country was doing business in their own home countries. At that time, the number of industries was so low that most of the sectors were ruled, owned and managed by the government. This was the time when local or the domestic producers earned really good amount of profits for their production of goods or services(lotey, 2010). But as time passed, the need of globalization was felt by everyone. In late 1980s globalization hit almost every other country around the world, and those who were not part of it later accepted globalization in order to boost their drowning economy(Becky, 2000). Globalization is believed to be started from Africa(education, 2013). Earlier it was only limited to people moving from one place (country) to another. When people from different places reached other countries they shared their ideas customs with that new country, this slowly led to the exchange of items between p ersons, then business and then at large between countries. A simple definition for globalization is: Globalization refers to all those processes by which the people of the world are incorporated into a single world society, global society(Albrow, 2000). Importance of globalization What does globalization means? It is the link between, the different countries with each other for the purpose of business, government affairs, or for migrating people from one place to another. Earlier the scope of globalization was only related to the business but when it was clearly and broadly defined by many eminent authors the meaning of globalization changed. The importance of globalization in todays world holds much more space in the room. There is no country left being the participant of globalization. Earlier it was only possible for the big scale industries to operate their businesses in other countries. Globalization made it possible, even for a newly opened business to go globalize. With the introduction of globalization many developed countries has made an enormous growth since then and has registered their name in the list of big players. An example of such a country is INDIA. In early 90s India opted globalization in order to save its drowning economy, and to everyone s surprise with a GDP of as low as 0.5% in 1990-91, India achieved a GDP growth of 9.7% in 2007-08. So globalization has its own importance that cant be ignored while studying about globalization. Globalization Firstly we will discuss the threats of globalization to Big MNCs given by (berth, 2014): Rise in competition: When a new company steps into and becomes a participant of globalization, they faces a tough competition from the existing participants, as the existing firms are already using high standards in their products and services, this force the new entrant to improve their standard in order to compete in the globalized market. Sometimes the scenario is totally opposite, a new entrant comes with such high technology that the existing players have to rework on their standards. Social Obligations: When a firm enters to operate their business in a new country, they are pre-occupied with several social obligations to fulfill. These obligations are kind of compulsory tax on the international firms. If these obligations are not met, then the table can turn out of the favor of the firms. Huge Taxations: Each country has their own taxation systems, few countries provides rebates in taxes to international firms, while few countries charge huge taxes in order to earn good amount as revenue from such business firms. Cost of raw materials: Most of the international businesses have turned to set up their branches in under-developed countries. Sometimes the firms do not get the required raw material in such countries so they bring it from their home countries which cost them really high, ultimately results in high expenses and low incomes. Hesitation of Local Public: If a globalized firm sets up in a really backward country, they do not get much attraction of customers as customers hesitate to buy foreign brands thinking that they must be very expensive. Now we will discuss the opportunities of globalization to Big MNCs given by (ferida, 2013): Location of Choice: Many countries in order to attract a large number of foreign brands to set up their industries in their countries, gave many benefits such as choice of location for the industry. This does not only turn in favor of the firms but also gave them a competitive advantage on others. Standard of Living Increases: In a country, when globalized firms enter the market of under-developed countries, the countrymen of that country positively try the product and services of that firm. This not only favors the firms but also increases the standard of living of the peoples living in these under-developed firms. Skilled Labor: Nowadays companies that go globalize, first study all the aspects of the targeted countries and then selects the most suitable country with skilled labor, resourceful lands and other benefits. Brand Name: Globalization has made it possible for all the firms to make their brand name all over the world by operating their business in all possible countries. It is up to the firms now, how to make that name. High Tech Machinery: One of the most important opportunities that globalization has availed to the companies are the high tech machinery. When a globalized company goes to other countries for their business, they observe the host country and their technology and if find appropriate they opt that technology into their workings. Critical Analysis Here in this part of the assignment we will study about this topic in detail. As every country was entering into the globalization era because of its booming benefits, many were afraid of its unseen threats. It is an old saying every good thing comes with a price to pay. Similar, was in case of globalization it came with numerous benefits yet it didnt managed to fade off its threats(Bellarus, 2010). To explore the topic of globalizations opportunity and its threat, we will take an example of a firm that is currently doing really good at domestic and international level. Zara is a Spanish firm providing, Clothing line products, now all around the world and before globalization their supply was only limited to Spain. Zara is perfect example of a globalized firm that really worked hard and turned every opportunity of globalization into their favor. The owner of Zara is announced the second richest man of the world by (Magazine, 2017). How the owner of Zara clothing company managed to re ach the spot of second richest man of the world, then the answer would be globalization(Buck, 2000). Zara presently owns 2100+ stores in almost 40 countries of the world. In 2015 Zara was listed in global brands list on 15th spot. Zara took every opportunity of globalization to make maximum profits out of it. Zara deals in Men, Women and Kids clothing; there is no doubt about the quality of the clothes you will get under ZARA roof. Below is the picture showing one of the ZARA showrooms in London at the most prominent place. This picture is a proof in itself about the success of ZARA because of globalization. Globalization helped Zara in opting newer, better, safer and economic technologies. In every region or country where they incorporated their work Zara created a large number of jobs, in return they got trained skilled labor (employees). In some regions they also received rebates in taxes from government of developing nations. These were some of the opportunities that are enjoyed by Zara. Now we will talk about the threats that emerged from globalization to this clothing brand. The first very common threat is the competition from the local brands. It is not always about brands but preference, even now there are a large no of peoples in developing nations that hesitates to buy branded clothes because of a their misconceptions that branded clothes means expensive apparels. Another threat to this emerging MNC is the lack of skilled labor in developing countries. When such companies with high technologies set up their branches in countries with outdated technologies and unskilled workers , the profits as well as the name of the company suffers. Another major threat could be cultural rifts between the company and the peoples of the host countries(Jicksy, 2012). An example of such threat is: In India, Coca-Cola Company compared and showed in an advertisement that their product (soft-drink) is better than milk, which affected the sentiments of many Indians, this advertisement created a cultural rift between the peoples and the company and this rift resulted in huge loss for the Coca-Cola Company. Now we will talk about what the managers of these big firms learnt from the process of globalization. A manager is a person who manages every little or big action of his/her related department. A manager is a key person in the success of any business as the higher end only makes the rules, regulations, frame policies and set objectives, but it is a manager who makes sure that every single employee is working towards the achievement of that objective. In the process of globalization, a firm decides to set up their branch or an office into a country other than their home country. The high end authorities come up with this decision and the managers of that particular firm then studies, observe and gathers the information about setting up another branch in another country. If everything goes right, managers report back to the high level officials and finally they incorporate their branch in host countries. In the process of globalization the managers of international firms explore their own field of capabilities and strengths. Globalization has really good and positive effects on the working of the managers. A manager working with a globalized firm not only gets the chance to work in their own country but also enjoys the opportunity of working in a host country(cuepper, 2017). Below are the points a manager working in a globalized firm can learn from the interplay between the host and home country in achieving success: Better technical knowledge: When a manager working in a globalized firm, working between home and host country, they become very known to the technology of both the countries and by comparing and observing they selects the finest of the high tech machinery for the business which ultimately results in the success of the business operations(Kasapidis, 2013). Creativity: A company for example, is doing a business of fast food (fried chicken) in a host country and is not earning a large attraction of the customers, and then it will be its manager to think about creative ideas to gain a large customer base. Managers of globalized firms come up with the most creative ideas as they are already known with the host countries peoples expectations and preferences. So another thing a manager of an international firm will learn from the interplay of host and home country in achieving success is creativity in abundance. Capability of coping up with stressed situations: Another main thing that a manger will learn from globalization is the capability of coping up with the stressed situations in business(harvey, 2009). As the managers of international firms are much more familiar with every business problems so they hardly get affected when any new problem arise. Intuition: When the managers of international firms work in host countries in totally opposite work conditions and with new staff, they not only develop the qualities of better leadership but also they also explore the ability of intuition in them. Conclusion After observing all the facts and information about the globalization, a detailed and a brief conclusion have been written here. Globalization has its own merits and demerits that one cannot ignore. It is now really important for a company as well as for a country to be a participant of globalization. In order to earn worldwide brand recognition, a company needs to operate their businesses in overseas with better or with the same standards that they are providing in their home countries. All this has become possible just because of globalization. It has numerous threats as well, but globalization has helped many economies from drowning and it helped in developing friendly relations between the governments of different countries. Globalization has not only helped the business firms in earning brand name and profits but it has also helped the management in learning new aspects and new things about the dynamic environment of business. Hence Globalization is really important and substant ial part of a business and an economy. Bibliography Albrow, 2000. beerkens. Insanity in Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka Essay Example

Insanity in Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka Paper Famous actor, father, and husband, Eric McCormack once proclaimed, â€Å"Most people, if you live in a big city, you see some form of schizophrenia every day, and its always in the form of someone homeless. Look at that guy hes crazy. He looks dangerous. Well, hes on the streets because of mental illness. He probably had a job and a home.† Basically, what McCormack is saying is that schizophrenia is found all around us, is found in people from all different walks of life and no matter the circumstance, everyone shares the same form of saneness and equality in some how, in some way. In The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka, the main character Gregor Samsa happens to have a severe case of schizophrenia. Evidently and as unanimous decision of many readers, Samsa’s case of mental illness is portrayed in the novel through his bizarre and surreal appearance as a mammoth cockroach. While a great deal of readers would concur that Gregor Samsa was truly insane and was not a giant, h uman-sized cockroach, some would say that Gregor actually did metamorphose into a cockroach. The idea that Gregor actually did mutate to an alien life form is insane can be rebutted through many counteraccusations, such as biological explanations, schizophrenic personalities, and the outcomes that come alongside destitute lifestyles. Firstly, readers on the side of biology would refute that Gregor did not actually mutate into a cockroach, as Gregor’s situation is a false accusation of mutation. Explicitly stated in the first paragraph of The Metamorphosis, Gregor’s metamorphosis takes place as follows: â€Å"When Gregor Samsa woke up one morning from unsettling dreams, he found himself changed in his bed into a monstrous vermin. He was lying on his back as hard as armor plate, and when he lifted his head a little, he saw his vaulted brown belly, sectioned by arch-shaped ribshis many legs, pitifully thin compared with the size of the rest of him, were waving helpl We will write a custom essay sample on Insanity in Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now We will write a custom essay sample on Insanity in Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka specifically for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Hire Writer We will write a custom essay sample on Insanity in Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka specifically for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Hire Writer

buy custom Law Case Study essay

buy custom Law Case Study essay This case deals with Matthew, an employee at MedX Ltd, who has recently suffered his first injury at work. Matthew was hit on the head by heavy boxes that were not properly stacked, which fell from the 5th tier of the warehouses rack. Another employee using a forklift carelessly stacked these boxes. As a result, Matthew was unconscious due to the hit on his head and woke up in the hospital the next morning. Matthew was not wearing a helmet as required. His injuries consisted of bruising to his face, a cut to his head, which left a permanent scar, dislocation of his right shoulder and further injuries to his legs. On top of these injuries, he now suffers from severe headaches and has to undergo physiotherapy for his shoulder. As a result, Matthew was unable to work for four months, and is unlikely to work for another 6 months, according to his consultant. He has a wife and a daughter and has a joint mortgage on his house. Matthew would like to bring a claim for personal injury and he can do so under tort. Tort as defined by Jacqueline Martin1is a civil wrong. The law of tort protects people, their property, and their reputation. A claim will be brought if someone through his or her breach of duty of care injures you, your property or reputation. Tort is a civil private matter where the claimant seeks compensation and it has a deterrent effect as it encourages individuals to behave more responsibly which is why Matthew is bringing a civil claim, as he does not want to punish but rather seek compensation for the injuries caused. Under the law of tort, lies the tort of negligence. Negligence is whereby the breach of a duty of care results in damage to the claimant undesired by the defendant. The court needs to prove that the claimant suffered a damage; the defendant owed the claimant a duty of care and that it was breached causing the claimant reasonably foreseeable damage. The law of tort recognizes phy sical damage whether it be to him or his property and consequential economic loss. In this case Matthew has suffered physical injury and would like to seek compensation for his pain and suffering. Mathhew has been left with bruising to his face, a cut to his head, which left a permanent scar, dislocation of his right shoulder and further injuries to his legs. On top of these injuries, he now suffers from severe headaches and has to undergo physiotherapy for his shoulder He also has been subjected to consequential economic loss, as he has medical bills, physiotherapy, is unable to work which results in a loss of income for him, his family and his mortgage. Under tort of negligence, duty of care needs to be established. This can be established through the case of Donoghue v Stevenson (1932) and Caparo Industries plc v Dickman (1990). The facts of this case include a friend who bought his friend, the claimant, ginger beer. The sealed bottle had a decomposed snail and the claimant was sick due to the snail. She sued the manufacturer for negligence and she won as the judgment stated that the manufacturer owed the consumers a duty of care. This leads to what Lord Atkins stated, persos who are so closely and directly affected by my act. This is known as the neighbor principle, which defines who owes this duty of care. The caparo test is a broader way of determining duty of care and is done through the three stage test. The damage must be reasonably foreseeable; there must be a relationship of proximity between the claimant and it must be fair for the law to impose this duty of care. In this case the damage is foreseeable as stacking boxes o n high shelf with a forklift needs to be done cautiously. Proximity is the relationship between the employer and the employee which in this case is Medx Ltd and Matthew. `A breach of the duty of care is when someone fails to act as a reasonable man would. This is established through the case of Nettleship v Weston (1971) where the judge ruled that the standard of care should be of an experienced driver even though the defendant was a learner driver. This results in fairness in the courtroom as they treat everyone at the same level of expertise. When analyzing this case we can clearly see that employee x acted negligently which resulted in the accident. However, because this incident happened in the workplace, employee x may not be held liable. Negligence requires causation which is tested with the but for test. But for the defendants negligence would the claimant have suffered? In this case we look at Medx Ltd, if they had supervised the first employee, Matthew would have not been injured. The case of Barnett v Chelsea and Kensington Hospital Management Committee (1968) where three night watchmen who went to the hospital after being sick after drinking tea at work. The doctor did not see the patients and told the men to go home. After a few hours, one man died from arsenic poising and the claimant sued the hospital. However, because the death was not caused as a result of the doctors breach of duty of care, as the arsenic has spread and even if the doctor has seen him he wouldnt have been able to save him. Thus, not allowing the widow to bring a case against them. It is Medx Ltds job to run a secure and orderly system of work and had they been more careful, the injury would have not resulted. The claimant, Mathew, was partly to blame as he was not wearing his helmet as required which is also known as contributory negligence as the damages suffered were partly a result of him not wearing his helmet. But for Matthewss negligence, which in this case is him not wearing his helmet, would he have still suffered? According to his injuries which consist of a dislocated shoulder and injuries to his leg, it shows that yes he should have worn his helmet; however he would have still suffered whilst wearing it. This does not mean that Mathew cannot bring a claim, on the contrary he can, however the damages awarded to him will be apportioned by the amount he was to blame. The general rule in tort law is that a person who authorizes a tort will personally be liable for damage or harm as a result. However, vicarious liability defines the circumstances in which a person is liable for the torts of another without express authorization or raatification. The most common example of vicarious liability is the liability of an employer for the torts of his employees committed in the course of employment. Vicarious liability applies to this case which means that a person, or in this case Medx lTD is responsible for the torts of another, which is the employee who used the forklift. Medx is automatically responsible because the employee who used the forklift is working on behalf of the company, which shows a special relationship which infact he was.The employee must be acting in the case of their employment, which applies to this case as this incident happened leaving the employer liable. Even if one was to argue that the first employee who used the forklift did s o carelessly, the employer will still be held liable. An example from case law is Century Insurance v Northern Ireland Road Transport Board (1942) where the employee was delivering petrol to a garage. The employee lit a cigarette and threw the match while the petrol was being piped which resulted in an explosion leaving the employer liable for the damage caused. There are many reasons why the employer should be held liable, the first being that the company tends to have more money and will be able to pay the compensation if an injury occurs. As the company receives benefits and profits from their employees, they also have to suffer the consequences and pay for losses. The employee has the power to choose who works for them and if they choose a careless individual then they are aware of the risks that come along with that. Finally, the employer must provide a safe workplace that will increase the standards of work and training at their business. Lord Wright stated that the whole cour se of authority consistently recognizes a duty which rests on the employer, and which is personal to the employer, to take reasonable care for the safety of his workmen, whether the employer be an individual, a firm, or a company, and whether or not the employer takes any share in the conduct of the operations. The obligation is threefold, the provision of a competent staff of men, adequate material, and a proper system and effective supervision All in all Matthew can bring a claim against Medx Ltd.Vicarious liability is a legal doctrine that allocates liability for an injury to a person who did not cause the injury but who has a particular legal relationship to the person who did act negligently. In this case, MedX Ltd is liable for Matthewss injuries because even though the it was one employees careless error the company is automatically responsible under. Under tort, there is a responsibility on one person for the failure of another, with whom the person has a special relationship, for instance, doctor and patient, parent and child and in this case employer and employee, to exercise such care as a reasonably prudent person would use under similar circumstances. The most important element to establishing a case for vicarious liability is that the wrongdoer is as in this case anemployee, and that the fault was during the employee's course of employment. Matthew will receive damages in the form of compensation; however the c ourt may deduct money because of his failure to wear a helmet. Buy custom Law Case Study essay

BUS305, Competitive Analysis and Business Cycles Mod 2 Case Assignment Essay

BUS305, Competitive Analysis and Business Cycles Mod 2 Case Assignment - Essay Example The proponents of rent control cite inflation and lack of affordability of housing units, arguing that shelter is a basic need that government policy should address. High rents would discourage industries because relocation of workers would be costly, and the arbitrary or unreasonable raising of rents of landlords, exercising their market power, can force workers to move out of areas of employment, with attendant high costs to them. Therefore some kind of control is necessary. The proponents also argue that present conditions are not really that bad for the landlords because of "vacancy decontrol" allowed, when they can raise the rent to about market clearing level once a tenant moves out. Also in some areas, new construction is exempt from rent control, no doubt a compromise solution to the possible incidence of urban decay caused by lack of maintenance of rental properties subject to rent control. There are also tax deductions that landlords are allowed to make on the properties - such as those that pertain to depreciation and real estate taxes. In some jurisdictions, landlords are allowed to raise rents at a certain ratio in relation to the increase in the Consumer Price Index, say, 60 per cent. It is not as bad for landlords as it is often portrayed. Those who are against rent control are numerous and preponderant. Many studies have confirmed that rent control benefits tenants and harms landlords (Nicholson, 1997). Even in the 1950s, waiting times for new apartments in Sweden were said to have reached 3 years because of the shortage. Secondly, rent controls affect housing quality: Landlords can refuse to do maintenance and repair work on the pertinent unit thus reducing their quality and the supply of units. If tenants insist that maintenance work be done, landlords can always tell them to leave if they are unhappy. The deterioration of housing units subject to rent control is such that Vietnamese Foreign Minister

REFLECTION REPORT. Evaluation of Research and Analysis, gets students Essay

REFLECTION REPORT. Evaluation of Research and Analysis, gets students to reflect upon the case study based research project they - Essay Example The business problem being analyzed in this case study is the decline in the number of people who are undertaking Project Management training courses in the recent years. It is important that CUPE Ltd address this trend if they want to continue to grow and become successful. The purpose of this reflection report will be to provide a reflection of the process of researching a business problem. Additionally, this study will be aimed at critically demonstrating our knowledge and understanding level of the various processes involved in research and analysis while at the same time evaluating our own performance in the area of researching a business problem. This problem will be also addressing on how we chose the research and analysis methods that were used in the investigation of the business problem while at the same time addressing the strengths and the limitations of our research and the processes we adopted. Additionally, the report will critically address the various changes we woul d like to make in our approach to researching and analyzing the business problem given another chance to work on the project. ... dertaking Project Management Training include the decline in the number of project management jobs, the increased emphasis on prospective employees having experience as opposed to training, the increased number of competitors in the market, the presence of new innovative ways of delivering training including the growth in popularity of online training and the availability of various new and innovative ways marketing the courses. How the research and analysis methods used to investigate the business problem were chosen In business research, it must be understood that the questions asked at all times need to be not only valid, but also fair and must also directly relate to our need for information. What this generally implies is that it is important to have very clear objective purpose while conducting business research right from organizing for the research, through conducting the actual research to the end where there is report writing (Martyn, 2013: 142-149). Additionally, we unders tood of the importance of collecting information in a fair and systematic manner and the analysis of the data not only with great care, but also in a systematic way. It is the rigour of the analysis that determines the validity of the research results (Pia, 2013). While choosing the research question, we first started by first broadly discussing areas in management which were of particular interest to us and which most of the group members thought were practical and needed to be further studies into. We consequently did a literature review on various case studies to do with management before settling on CUPE Ltd which was not only practical, but also was related to the interests of all the members of the group. To refine the topic to investigating the decline in the number of people

The Apostle Paul Essay Example for Free

The Apostle Paul Essay This report paper will be on the life of Paul. We will look at many various different facts about this influential man of God. We all know the apostle Paul was used of God in a miraculous way, but this paper will take a behind the scenes look at some areas. I also endeavor to make this paper come alive and reveal things about the apostle Paul that maybe have never been discovered by the average reader and possibly forgotten by the veteran Christian. The Author of Acts First, let me begin by saying that in Acts class we learned the importance of Acts for the local New Testament church today. When the church is of course if we would just be reminded to get back to the book of Acts then we would see many of our church problems disappear in no time at all. Contrary to what many baby Christians believe the Apostle Paul did not write the Book of Acts, but rather we learn that Luke wrote it. This was Luke’s second treatise as it is written. Paul’s Transition The Apostle Paul that we know at the end of his Epistles is not the same as when we first meet him in the Scriptures. The Apostle Paul came a long way from where he was to where he ended up. The Bible tells us that he would persecute the Church passionately and without regard for the Believers. The Apostle Paul was arguably the world’s most influential missionary (obviously not counting the Lord Jesus) to ever walk planet earth. Paul was not always his name but actually he was called Paul only after his conversion. Paul’s first and original name was Saul. Saul was a terror to the church and a modern day widow maker in his heyday. We even see Saul there early on when Stephen the martyr was being slain by his adversaries. We read the account firsthand in Acts the seventh chapter verse fifty-eight the Bible says: Act 7:58 And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young mans feet, whose name was Saul. Paul’s Childhood Before we get to far ahead in the story let me give a little bit of history of Saul from Tarsus. Saul was born either very close to the same time that Jesus was born or within a few years of His birth. He was born and lived in the city of Tarsus. Tarsus was a roman providence in the southeast of Asia Minor. This undoubtedly was beautiful lush gardens and beautiful scenery for Saul to enjoy growing up. Paul’s Schooling Saul enjoyed great scenery growing up but more importantly because of where he lived he received the best education of that day that money could buy. Saul from an early age was already leaps and bounds ahead of his peers academically. Saul had a sharp mind and we will see he used that later on his ministry, and the writing of Romans which I believe was written by the Apostle Paul. Paul was living the all around Jewish dream people would say as they heard about all he had. Paul’s Family We do not know much about the history and background of Saul’s family. We do however know that his dad was of one of the strictest tribe of the Jews. He was a Pharisee and also of the tribe of Benjamin. He had nothing but pure unmixed non tainted blood in their thinking. Paul’s Religion Act 23:6 But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees, and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee: of the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question. His father was a Roman citizen, but we do not read in the Scriptures if the apostle Paul was wed or not. Saul grew up and finished his preliminary studies approximately at the age of thirteen. After this beginning he would gone to a prominent Jewish school to study law. Saul was privileged to have been able to study under the significant rabbi Gamaliel. It was here that he spent an immense amount of time pouring himself into his studies and where he learned many things. Historians tell us that Saul was already gaining political prowess and prestige rapidly ahead of his peers. Many people believe that Saul was already heavily involved in the Sanhedrin. Saul became an extreme activist and zealous about persecuting the church. This was partially ironic because we already know that Saul trained and learned from Gamaliel who taught the exact opposite of that. We see him standing up as one of the council saying: Act 5:34-35 Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space; And said unto them, Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men. Act 5:38-39 And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought: But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God. Paul as a Persecutor Now that Saul was intent on persecuting the church he looked for Christians everywhere. Saul was a man that did no task half way. Saul would give everything in life one hundred and ten percent as we see evident all though the study of his life. Saul discovered one way or another that there were Christians in Damascus and so after a discussion with the chief priest he received orders or permission to take care of business. Saul was so dedicated that we see he is willing to make the one hundred and thirty mile trek to persecute the church. The chief priest gave him permission to go to Damascus and bring both men and women bound back to Jerusalem. Paul’s Conversion On this trip to Damascus is where Saul gets confronted with the truth and converted to the truth. The Lord stops him in his tracks and on his path by shining a bright light around him. The Lord asks him a question from Heaven,† Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? Saul falls to the ground under the power of the light and asks, â€Å"Who art thou, Lord?† and Jesus replies to him by saying,† I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. Right away Saul falls under intense conviction was converted and immediately asks the Lord what He would have him to do. On a brief side note this is an incredible testimony to the conversion and character of Saul. He would do everything one hundred percent and never give up until the Lord moved him and we see that every time he goes through a difficult situation (which was quite often) in his ministry. Saul’s name was eventually changed to Paul later on (which is the Gentile name) and he is temporarily blinded by the bright light. He fasts and goes without food or drink for three days. Scholars speculate it was there that he agonized and struggled but returned victoriously. A few days later he received his sight after Ananais put his hands on him and he was baptized. Paul’s Ministry He writes and informs us in Galatians that after his salvation experience he spent some time alone in the desert area of Arabia. After a period of some three years Paul is now charged up and ready to go. Many people speculate as to what exactly Paul did for those three years. We believe with research that is it safe to say that the Apostle Paul was deep in studying and learning more and more. Paul was a Pharisaical man before, but now after dealings with the Lord we see him as dry sponge soaking up the wisdom of the Word and becoming reading to dispense of it. Three years later he returned to Damascus and was ready to now preach boldly. Unfortunately they did not receive him kindly and he was forced to flee for his own personal safety. He left and went unto Jerusalem only to face the same result three weeks later. Paul was beginning to face the beatings and persecutions and torture that he had so readily dished out to the people to whom now he was called to minister. Paul was undergoing life altering events that did not even seem to faze him in the least possible way. The Apostle Paul was starting to really emerge and became quickly one of the leading missionaries for the faith. We see the church at Antioch catch spiritual fire and become burden for missions and those around them. They decided to send John Mark, Barnabas, and Paul on their very first missionary trip. This would revolutionize missions for ever after. Paul’s First Missionary Trip These three men would begin sailing from Seleucia across to Cyprus which was approximately eighty miles to the southwest. It was on this journey that Saul would no longer be called Saul but rather the Apostle Paul. The Apostle Paul took the lead role on this trip and took charge. They trekked across the mainland, and unfortunately for whatever reason John Mark left the missions field. The absence of John Mark would become a sore spot between Barnabas and the Apostle Paul in the future. However, the trip continued and they passed though Pamphylia, Pisidia, and Lycaonia. They turned the world upside down with their passion and mission trip. As they returned back home they retraced their steps visiting babes in Christ along the way and encouraged many churches. They would ordain elders within the church to act as an overseer in their presence to make sure all things would continue as they were. From the city of Perga they sailed unto Antioch. Paul’s Division After a while being in Antioch the Apostle Paul proposed that they return and check up on their brethren to see how they fared. The planning was going great and the trip was sure to be even bigger and better than the first until it came to a screeching halt. For the aforementioned reasons there was a sharp division between the two. Barnabas wanted to take John Mark, his cousin, and give him another chance, but the Apostle Paul was quick to remember what happened last time when John Mark bailed on them. The division was so sharp that they parted company Paul’s Second Missionary Trip Paul began his second missionary journey with a new missionary partner, Silas. Barnabas took his cousin and went on a missionary journey separate. The Apostle Paul began this missionary trip about A.D. 51. Each missionary tour that Paul took he wanted to stay out a little longer and go a little further in to the mission field. After each missionary trip he would return to Antioch give reports to the churches and check up on and encourage the brethren. Paul’s Third Missionary Trip On this third missionary trip he toured the upper coast of Asia Minor as he made his way slowly to Ephesus. As we said earlier each trip the apostle Paul wanted to stay longer and longer on the mission field and this trip was no different. He tarried there with the brethren for three years ministering to them. Like the other trips he suffered much persecution here as well. It seems that this trip might have had the most severe torture as Paul was getting older the beatings were becoming more severe and the hurled rocks would only hurt that much more against his bare sun beat back. Paul suffered so much on his mission’s trips yet he always wanted to do more and he maintained a joyful attitude despite his circumstances. Conclusion The Apostle Paul was a man that experienced great transformation in his life. He was a Pharisee of the Pharisee’s and Hebrew and on his way to Hell. God miraculously saved him on his way to persecute the church and turned his life around. Paul was a zealous man with a lot of passion whatever he did and the ministry was no different. Paul went on multiple missionary trips leading many people to Jesus. He challenged the churches, established order when necessary and revolutionized missions. The Apostle Paul is someone we should model our missions after. He had a desire to please God and did whatever it took to lead the churches in the way of truth. Paul truly lived a life that daily was â€Å"back to Acts†. And He was a real man because he preached Christ and Him crucified. May we all be as dedicated to the cause of Christ as we saw in this paper that The Apostle Paul was to Jesus Christ his Lord and Saviour.

Entrepreneurial Revolution :: Business, Entrepreneurs

Kuratko and Hodgetts (2001) mentioned that â€Å"we are having entrepreneurial revolution in this twenty first century†. This is the period where entrepreneurs will grow like mushroom after the raining season. On the other hand in Malaysia, according to department of statistic (2009) the number of people who become entrepreneurs have shown a reducing trend since 1982 to 2008 where it had gone down to 20.9% from 25.1%. This shows that many people prefer to work with private sector or government rather than becoming entrepreneurs. To increase the number of the people to become entrepreneurs especially the Bumiputra(native people), the government has launched many schemes and mechanism to increase their numbers. Education institution has been use as one of the mechanism to promote entrepreneurship to the student in middle and tertiary education. The creations of entrepreneurs are important because they have been proven to contribute to economy wealth and job creation (Turker and Selcuk, 2008). In 1999, Audretsh and Thurik conducted research on past data from 1984 to 1994 regarding the relationship between entrepreneur and job creation issue. The result showed that there is a positive relationship between the two where the number of job rate increases when the number of entrepreneurs increased. In Malaysia entrepreneurship course was started to be introduced in some universities in mid 90’s (Cheng et al.d, 2010). Then in 2007, Ministry of Higher Education made a policy that entrepreneurship course became a compulsory subject to all students in the universities irrespective of whatever faculties ,to encouraged more development of entrepreneurs from the university(Ministry of High Education Malaysia, report 2010). With this policy, universities have become the center to foster entrepreneurship. However unlike the situation in the west, here in Malaysia the situation is different where the number of people who actually become entrepreneur is small compared to the number of people who have taken the course. This is totally difference in other countries. In the United States, for instance, many of the graduates form companies after and during their universities. In the west the impact of the entrepreneurship education have been well known as mention by Ayers (2004) where the â€Å"graduates from Massachuset Institute of Technology have created more than 4000 companies†. In Harvard more than 50% of the students have involved in venture business (Anjan,2005). Similar effect also ha d happen in early research in Europe (Harhoff, 1999) .All these situations indicate that entrepreneurship can be taught through education.

What skills do you believe manages should possess? A: Leadership, organizational and interaction skills, good communication. Planning Q: Why do you think Managers need to plan? A: You need to have agreed plans and goals; I?s how you measure yourselves and the business against planned targets Q: There are different kinds of Plans including, Mission statements, vision, marketing operational. What type of plans do you use in your business? A: In my division we use all of those, the company has our mission statement and vision, which we live but the operational plans are the day to day business for us.Q: How often do you refer to each of the plans? A: It really depends on the plan and situation but I would say at least weekly. Q: Do you discuss the plans with you your teams and why? A: Yes we discuss these in all of our meetings at different levels. Staff, supervisor and management meetings. Q: How effective do you think these plans are? A: There is always room for improvement, but at th is time they are good. They are achievable and relevant to the core business. Our plans have to be somewhat flexible due to the changing environment we work in. Q: What benefits do you think you get from each of those plans?A: The team get a sense of achievement, moving forward, setting new goals. We achieve then move the goals forward. It's great for the team to see the plan coming to fruition. Organizing Q: Why do you think businesses need to have organizational structures? A: Accountability and growth. Q: There are different kinds of Organizational structures in the workplace, Formal/informal, functional, and divisional and matrix. Which one or combination Of these is used in your business? A: would say Divisional due to the multiple sites. Q: What benefits do you think you get from those structures you use?A: loud say time is the biggest benefit. When you find something that works well at one site you can adapt that to fit another site. With not having to come up with a complete new system then have time to focus on other issues. Q: Do you see any drawbacks to any of the structures you use? A: Having too many sites sometimes mean you spread yourself a little thin. That's when you have to look at staff and co-leaders. Leadership Q: Why do you think leadership is important in business? A: Overall accountability, but part of that is ensuring that the whole team work together to achieve the desired outcome.Q: There are several types of adhering, Autocratic, Democratic Laissez-fairer, situational etc. Which of these do you use in your organization? A: Democratic for me, having said that there are occasions when time constants mean a directive needs to be the way to move forward quickly. Q:How would you describe your leadership style? A: Adaptable depending on the climate at the time and proactive. Q: What benefits do you think you get from this style? A: Success, great time management and good interactions with staff. This means we meet timeliness. Q:DO you see any drawbacks to this style?A: Sometimes if you don't stay focused on delivery, things can get interpreted Rooney. You really have to make sure you invest time on learning so everyone understands their part in the overall plan. Control Q: What does controlling mean for you? A: Guidelines are put in place sows have a structured approach. Q: What control systems are used in your business? A: Mainly Kepi's (Key Performance Indicators) Q: Why are controlling systems important in your business? A: So we can achieve and show that we have achieved. Q: What control functions that you use monitor your planning functions?A: The Kepi's are what shows how we are progressing against our plan and working towards our targets. With no Kepi's where are we really. 1 . The Planning Function of Management 1. 1 . A There are a variety of reasons that managers plan although to me the first reason would be to set the direction and priorities of the company or sector of the company. You want to ensure tha t everyone in the team is working towards a similar goal and understands what that goal is. 1 . 2. A Vision Statement: Describes what a company would like to achieve, their aspirations to be the leader or best at what they do.Mission Statement: This is really the overall aim of the company, it tells prospective customers who the company are and what they stand for. Strategic plans: these are the long term plans the company has to grow. The overall direction it wants to take to achieve its desired goals. Marketing plans: This is the companies plan outlining how they plan to achieve the strategic goal they set. Here they need to look at what they deliver how well and what gives them the competitive edge over others out there. How they show that information to prospective clients. Contingency plan: This is the ‘what if plan.As we all know â€Å"If anything can go wrong, it will. † Murphy's law With that in mind we need to put plans in place for possible events that were to originally planned for (the contingency plan). Operational plans: This is a short term plan often set at a lower level in the company to ensure the team or section of the company have a clear understanding of what they need to do in the short term to ensure the company as a whole is achieving its higher level plans. 1 . 2. B The company I studied has a variety of plans, they have a vision (what they want to be), Mission (Why they exist), Values(what is important to them). They also have a strategic plan looking at the goals of increasing contracts and turnover by a percentage each year for the next five years. They have a marketing plan, for how they plan to sell the business to prospective clients. All these plans are driven from their National Office. Then there is the operational planning side of things, this is how they plan their work week to week to ensure they carry out the work the client wants within the timeshare set. 1. 3. From what observed I think overall the company st udied has some good plans at each level. My study was more focused on the operational plans and at interview and at first look it appears that the plans are sound and have some clear expectations of how things would be done in order to achieve the goals. Looking closer showed that there were some things that could possibly be done to make it more effective 1 . 3. B I was able to see the operational plans and how these were looked at from week to week. They have various focuses form current week to next and then longer focus into months ahead. I was shown the targets for completions of set work and the actual percentages achieved week on week against the plans. They have set themselves some high goals for the year and are close to achieving. I did notice from discussions that where they appear to fail is due to not cooking at the contingency side of things fully. A lot of the day to day jobs are dependent on weather or plant access and often there is no plan for what they will do if th ey cannot do that. This means that the overall focus then becomes more reactive than proactive. 2. The Organizing Function of Management 2. 1 . A Businesses need to have organizational structures in order to allow them to function effectively. This is because the structure defines the roles and tasks undertaken by staff. â€Å"An idea can only become a reality once it is broken down into organized, actionable elements. † Scott Belles 2. 2. The main kinds Of organizational structures are: Formal: Generally roles and responsibilities are set out in writing and staff generally don't venture outside their job description. Informal: Is how people work together in practice, day to day interactions. This structure generally develops alongside a formal structure. Divisional: Is where an organization is split into a number of separate units. These can be grouped according to product, market, geographical location or a mix of these. Each division is self-managed. Functional: Is where sta ff are grouped according to the function or role they perform Matrix: Is where staff are grouped by both function and product, often this structure is used for project work. 2. B The company I studied had a combination Of the Structures discussed. The company as a whole have a formal structure with an organizational chart to show the positions, with each position having a formal job description. But alongside that the staff have developed good communication and day to day talking to ensure the jobs are completed which is really the informal addition. The company has certainly got a divisional side to mainly based on location, and there is somewhat of a functional split at the location I looked at where hey have a roofing team with team leader, a handyman team with team leader, an industrial cleaning team with team leader and a commercial cleaning team with team leader. 2. 3. A The impression I was left with is that the mix of organizational structures works very well in this company. There appear to be a good balance between the formal and informal. The functional structure impressed me in that each of the individual teams had a clear understanding of their roles and took pride in achieving and meeting their targets. 2. 3. B During my visit I was able to see the organizational chart and some of the position descriptions. Away the team members within the office and how they interacted with the team leaders to get tasks achieved. 3. The Leadership Function of Management 3. 1 . A Leadership is important because without it a business will fail to function to its full potential. Leadership is the capacity to transform vision into reality. † Warren G. Bennie 3. 2. A To me the business I studied relies heavily on the democratic style of leadership, with a little delegating added to the mix. Democratic: There were a lot of notes from meetings with the manager and her supervisors and team leaders, where you could see issues discussed and he thoughts of the team wit h the decision made and agreed as the way to move forward. I noted from the tone used by the manager at interview and the dealings I saw with staff that she asked for their thoughts and input to assist in the decision making process.Delegating: I could often see actions for tasks or monitoring being assigned to the supervisor and team leaders. 3. 2. B Compared to the democratic style the autocratic does not look for a collaborative approach. Generally it is a more solely directive or authoritarian approach. Whereas the democratic style assists staff in feeling that they are a ajar part of the process and engaging them the autocratic would not be the way to get the best from a team. The team with the autocratic leader often feel less loyal, have less commitment and in the end, less satisfaction from the job as those with a democratic leader.Having said this a few of the staff I came across liked the go to work and be told what to do and how, although it was a minority. Although not i deal in my view there are occasions where autocratic works, this is usually in situations where an emergency has occurred and a decision needs to be made sooner rather than waiting to see if a consensus can be reached. . 3. A I believe that the leadership in the business I studied was adequate. There seemed to be systems in place and all those I spoke to or observed seemed to be aware of their part in achieving.

How Denouement Is Used in a Narrative

In a narrative (within an essay, short story, novel, play, or film), the denouement is the event or events following the climax; the resolution or clarification of the plot. A story that ends without a denouement is called an open narrative. Etymology From the Old French, unknotting Examples and Observations One might have thought that in choosing Jack and the Beanstalk, [Berwick] Kaler was returning to traditional narrative. Yet having found a plot, he contrives to lose it again pretty quickly. Though there is a character named Jack, and a fast-growing vegetable so rampant it threatens to crush the auditorium, any giants who came to the auditions with their fi-fi-fo-fum routines honed will have been turned away disappointed. Instead, the denouement involves David Leonards dastardly villain being crushed by an enormous chicken while a chorus of nuns swings from some bell ropes and an invading horde of puzzled green Martians looks on.(Alfred Hickling, Jack and the Beanstalk--Review. The Guardian, Dec. 13, 2010)Every tragedy is in part Complication and in part Denouement; the incidents before the opening scene, and often certain also of those within the play, forming the Complication; and the rest the Denouement. By Complication I mean all from the beginning of the story to the point just before the change in the heros fortunes; by Denouement, all from the beginning of the change to the end.(Aristotle, Poetics, translated by Ingram Bywater)Denouement means wrapping up of loose ends, and it includes a demonstration of how the hero or heroine has changed. In the story pattern for nonfiction, the corresponding device is the summary. The plans made or actions taken reveal what he or she has learned from the experience.(Elizabeth Lyon, A Writers Guide to Nonfiction. Perigee, 2003)Toy Story 3 is wondrously generous and inventive. It is also, by the time it reaches a quiet denouement that balances its noisy beginning, moving in the way that parts of Up were. That is, this film--this whole three-part, 15-year epic--about the adventures of a bunch of silly plastic junk turns out also to be a long, melancholy meditation on loss, impermanence, and that noble, stubborn, foolish thing called love.(A.O. Scott, Voyage to the Bottom of the Day Care Center. The New York Times, June 1 3, 2010)Imagine the feeling you would have had if Saving Private Ryan had ended and the credits rolled immediately after Captain Millers hand stopped shaking, indicating that he had drawn his last breath. Bad enough that Tom Hanks has died on screen. But now were expected to walk outside and get in our cars and head home?Despite the obvious implication, movies dont end with the outcome of the final battle. Sure, the outcome answers the question(s) raised by the writer at the end of the first act. In that sense, there is a conclusion. But we crave more as moviegoers, dont we? Were not ready just yet to let go of the story or its characters, are we?Why is why every great ending needs a denouement. . . .[T]he denouement is the main characters and/or the rest of the worlds reaction to the outcome of the final battle.(Drew Yanno, The Third Act: Writing a Great Ending to Your Screenplay. Continuum, 2006) Pronunciation: dah-new-MAHN
